Every good researcher knows that not every tool or research tool is perfect. Some are limited and some have flaws. As such, a variety of tools should be used when trying to find the answer to any question. The same is true when researching what companies test on animals. Each tool should be used in combination with other tools. In the case of the NAVS Look Up Tool, it should be supplemented with the list of companies that test on animals. I'm not saying it isn't a valuable stand alone tool; in fact, it is quite powerful. But, like any tool, it is not flawless or exhaustive. If the company you are researching does not come up, double check the list of companies that test on animals. Also, make sure you put in the parent company and not the brand name or brand company. Why? Many companies that test on animals produce products under different names. In addition, many companies that test on animals manufacture products that they say are not tested on animals. While this may be true for the particular product, it isn't true for the company as a whole. It is the policy of most animal rights organizations to boycott the company as a whole, rather then support one product. the point is to let the company know that animal testing is wrong, period, and that by supporting that product, you ultimately fund animal testing. So, like with all good research, be skeptical, be challenging, be analytical and be comprehensive or through.
